Project Details

Kitty Boo Boo: The Zombie Slayer will be a 2D action platformer featuring a kitten protagonist who is fighting her way past zombies while being able to shift between a light/dark dimension, revealing hidden pathways that were not visible before. Strike down your enemies with the power of your shurikens, with the ability to choose different power moves.

Project Goals

Minimum goals

  • Static platforms with no textures

  • Box people for characters

  • Avatar movement

  • Few enemies on field

  • Shuriken ability but no power moves

  • Light/dark mode implemented

  • Win condition

  • Unlimited stealth

Expected goals

  • Themed design with platform textures

  • Sprites for characters

  • Moving platforms

  • Avatar movement with animations

  • Multiple zombie enemy types, e.g. ranged, tank, fast.

  • Shuriken ability with discoverable power moves in stealth mode

  • Time limited stealth

  • Story-themed win condition

  • Sound effects on most interactions

Stretch goals

  • Alternative means of travel, e.g. grapple hook

  • Polish polish polish

  • Sound effects on everything

  • Menus

  • Boss fight

  • Multiple levels

  • Speed Run Mode

  • Introduction cinematic

 

Weekly Plan

10/28 – Basic movement, rudimentary level, some enemies with simple AI, shuriken throwing, light/dark mode mechanic

11/4 – Sprites, animations, zombie types, more complex level design, some sound effects

11/11 – Continued zombie type creation, moving platforms, Time limited stealth, power moves discoverable

11/18 – textures, more sound effects, win conditions/story context

11/25 – boss fights, alternative means of travel. menus

 

Milestone Targets

Alpha – Basic movement, rudimentary level, some enemies with simple AI, shuriken throwing, light/dark mode mechanic

Beta – Zombie types created, sprites with animations, sound effects, more complex level design, time limited stealth, textures, power moves, moving platforms

Final – boss fight, win condition, game should be very polished and complete
