The Project Design
Detailed Plan
The core idea of this game is that the players control two balls to follow different path simultaneously. Both single player mode and multiplayer mode will be available. In each mode we will design multiple levels with increasing difficulty for players to choose from. In single player mode, players can practise their control skills on different levels. In multiplayer mode, there will be extra items appearing on the map. Players could collect the props and use them to benefit themselves or disrupt their opponents. The player who reaches the end first will win the game. The balls of opponents will be shown as transparent objects on the same screen, so the players could adjust their strategies accordingly.
We plan to build at least three types of balls: wooden ball, paper ball, and stone ball.
- Wooden ball: normal movement
- Paper ball: light weighted, small inertia, easy to correct it’s path
- Stone ball: heavy, move slowly, hard to control
The items we plan to build:
- Switch balls: switch between different types of balls
- Blind: reduce eyesight of opponent (limited view area)
- Speeding +/-: increase or decrease the dropping speed of platforms
- Acceleration & Deceleration: change the speed of balls

Milestone
Alpha on Nov 4
We plan to have the single player mode playable at this moment with three different levels for selection. Players will be able to switch their balls among wooden ball, paper ball and stone ball by using items collected on the path. Different balls have different physical attributes.
Through the alpha playtest, we hope to get some feedback on the types of balls, as well as the game levels, in order to figure out whether those levels need to be changed and how we can change them.
Beta playtest on Nov 18
At this time, the multiplayer mode will be available with more interesting items. Players will be able to compete with others.
The playtest of this version will mainly focus on multiplayer experience. For example, whether the player will feel joyful when their opponent gets harmed by the items they use. Suggestions on item design will also be helpful. Besides, we’d like to get some feedback on better networking strategies, for example, how to adjust balance of the game.
Final play test on Nov 25
At this point, the game should be completely finished. The game will become more interactive after we design more items and implement more play modes. They will be able to practice their skills in single player mode (Level Mode or Infinity Mode). They can also compete with others for fun.
In this play test we hope to gather information about some problems we may have, or some suggestions on future work. Then we can spend the rest of the time to improve our game if possible, and write document.
