Team Outbreak: Final Project Pitch

We are designing a dual-stick style zombie survival shooter titled “Outbreak”.

Who We Are:

Each of our members will have some sort of input to the code base of the final project.

There are a few goals for the target experience. One, we want to evoke the feeling of a lone survivor in a zombie apocalypse moving through a city in search of food, safe haven, or other survivors. Two, the movement should make the player feel very human, using realistic restrictions to vision, movement, and combat. And all from a familiar top-down perspective. We think that the combination of these  elements will achieve that spooky, unnerving feeling that will make the game entertaining and fun to replay multiple times.

Of course, there are moments that we absolutely want each new player to encounter and experience that should help reinforce why we feel that this idea would be fun. All of these moments should really make the player feel panicked and force them to keep thinking on their feet. One way this might happen is while sprinting down a dimly lit hallway, unable to look back. You know that they’re zombies following you, but you’re not quite sure how close they are to catching and killing you. Or after exploring a dark corner of the map, sneaking around and avoiding combat wherever you can, you stumble upon a well lit corner that makes you feel somewhat at ease. That is until you have to venture out into the dark again. Again, we want all of these experience to convey a survivor horror type of  feeling.
