Ghost race

I thought it was due at 5…. I’m an idiot.

My idea is basically you have died in the night and have become a ghost. You then must run into a “safe haven” before the sun comes up or you will die. The entire game is based around you (the ghost) avoiding ghost hunters and lights and other things while you race through the level as the sun slowly comes up.

Controls:

Right now I think this will work better as a 2D mario feel type game. You can move, go invisible, jump, float, and basically all of this happens while you are racing through the level trying to get a good time. So your controls would basically be A D and spacebar for jumping, and 1 2 3 for abilities.

Goals:

The goals for the prototype is just the character, with the movement feel done, the abilities sort of done, and maybe a small level which is basically just a platform with other platforms.

So basically it’s kind of a single player game where you race against the clock with a ghost type feel.

One Response to “Ghost race”

  1. Overall, this all sounds fine, although I’d like a bit more detail on the feel of the ghost; I assume you are going to have different feels for the different abilities (e.g., floating versus running, invisible vs more solid/visible, etc).

Having a prototype where you implement these, can toggle between and test them, would be great. Don’t think about limiting which mode the character can be in yet (ie. eventually, you might want to limit the more powerful modes, for example, with some sort of energy) but right now I’d say focus on implementing them so you and others can play with them and try them out.
