Progress Report 1 – AR Content Placement using 3D models and orthographic projections
Since we revised our initial proposal to develop a more concise and focused project, our phase 1 goals were simplified.
Assignment 1 gave us more insight into ARGON2 and developing for it. Due to the difficulties we encountered, we decided to focus on the THREE.js and web interfaces for our project before working with argon. After the prototypes of pages are confirmed operational, we will work on porting them to ARGON2.
The basic summary of our phase 1 goals from the proposal is as follows:
– Create Argon2 Page capable of switching between two views with the same model. Rather than make 2 argon pages, we developed a THREE.js page for switching between orthographic views of different objects by clicking on them.
Plan a base set of models that will be useable in the application.
– Per Blair’s recommendation we would like to use the 3d models of campus buildings. But for phase 1 we are loading wire-frame Collada and basic models into the system.
Enable a Desktop Web version to load some aspect of the application.
– The desktop version and the iPhone version are essentially the same for this phase.
This phase does not have any notable graphics or videos to include. We are using a GITHUB repository for managing code and examples, and would be happy to demonstrate / allow access to the instructor.
