The red jellyfish had a zombie feel to them which was fun. I guess that’s about how real jellyfish move too. I think if would add some extra excitement if the blue jellyfish tried to avoid you when you went to collect them. The jump feels weird, but it doesn’t seem to damage the game. The underwater feel is definitely there.

It’s odd how much can be expressed with a single yellow box and a small blue object… Strangely enough, the movement speed and manner actually made me think of SpongeBob even more, so I think that you relayed the feeling of being him pretty well!

I liked how you had a distinct goal for the player. It made the game feel important, like I was on a mission that I had to complete. The enemies also seemed like they reacted to the player. I’m not sure if they just randomly move or if they follow the player, but they certainly seemed like they were chasing me at times. Cool stuff! And the sound effects helped place me into the same universe as the character, which was nice (and so was hearing Plankton at the end).

The only suggestion I have is to allow the player to control the character in mid-air during a jump. It felt out of place to have zero control after a leap upwards, and I would hope for at least some sort of floaty rotation with the keyboard.

Otherwise, this was fun! Great job!

Did you intend the jellyfishes to follow Spongebob? Because half way through the game I saw them line up and following me. I like the jellyfishes’ movement. It seems realistic. Also the background and the sound does a good job of giving a feel of underwater. It might improve your prototype to add extra background music other than just the wave sound. And it would be a little better if you change the color above spongebob, since I was confused at first thinking it was part of the blue jellyfishes I have to catch.

Jumping mechanic was a bit rough; I think more control while airborn would be appropriate (especially since you’re supposed to be underwater). Some more ambient sounds would help make it feel more polished; the zappy jellyfish noise was nice. Good work.

I loved playing this game, and absolutely had to beat it!!
My favorite feature is how the jellyfish lurch towards you one half at a time. It is a very realistic effect, which helps emphasis how well done the entire environment is polished.
One thing I would fix is how the jellies can go through walls. No fair 🙁 – but maybe im just bad at this game 😛
The number of jellies is the perfect level of difficulty, and its cool how they go a bit faster in the final stage of the game.
The character movement is fluid and intuitive. Some of the pickups were just a bit too height, and I had to jump over and over to get them perfectly. This is kindof good tho, because u may need to abort and return to the pick up after drawing the jellies away.
Simple (game not code), fun, and intuitive!
