I really liked the first room where you had to memorize the order that the blocks light up. It added a fun little puzzle aspect to the game. One improvement that I feel could help is finishing up that last room and maybe make it related to the previous two rooms. That way there can a kind of story happening throughout the game. The motions in the game are great and the slow movements of the character really add to the feel of survival horror. The world itself is also designed really well to mimic a haunted house since it is so dark in there and the character has to carry around a flashlight to see.

Great work. I really like the camera angle mechanic as it gives the impression of being more horror-movie-like and is great for setting up jump scares which are common in the genre. The sound was especially good at setting the mood, especially the background tracks.

One improvement I would make is to add a strafe key. Navigating through the red boxes becomes slightly tedious with only forward/back and turn direction. I can tell the character is meant to be scared and slow, but the speed could be increased some to make movement feel less sluggish. Overall, great prototype.

The only thing that could be a problem with it is at the beginning I was able to move off of the camera and if the room was more complicated I could possibly get lost, but it did increase the mystery and suspense when entering a room. Also, I noticed that the player turns completely around when they press space. This is fine in 3rd person mode, but is confusing and disorienting in first person. If you want to keep this mechanic then I would add a quick turning animation to help the player understand what is happening.

I think you definitely hit the mark with using the cinematography to enhance the horror experience. I especially liked the one before going into the boss room, the creepy clown guy appeared for a second and then you had to walk into the room blind with no idea what lurks inside (unless you read the bonus guide haha). Since the ghosts were harmless they ended up being pretty funny, nice comic relief after a stressful stroll through the corridor. I also liked the puzzle and player choice elements, and the nice increase in speed after stealing the gold thing. Exceptional use of textures and sound as well.

I believe you hit exactly what you were going for. The camera angles and the small puzzle and choice the character has to make really make this thrilling. I got goosebumps after picking up the gold item, given how the location changed. The addition of doors after the first puzzle and changing of camera angles after the second really make it good. I really like it! The motions of the character, walking slowly, moving its hands up to cover its mouth to start before using a flash light, is really well done. The interactions with the environment make it really nice, between stealing the item and pushing the puzzle pieces. The music and other polish, like the flashlight’s beam, definitely help with the spooky atmosphere. 10/10, would play again.
