While I understand you want to keep the game difficult, giving yourself a higher jump, or ever a double jump, would make the prototype a little more accessible. Accelerating faster would also cut down on time spent trying to reach max speed. Overall though, I think you had a cool idea and the game is still plenty of fun to play. Some more polish effects, like background music or different pickups, could go a long way in expanding this concept.

If you have a gamepad, I think your game could really benefit from pressure sensitive movment speed. It can still be a fast paced game, just would give the player more control. This is a great prototype for the game you want to make. I’m sure creating a free-running game is quite complicated. Perhaps level design wise, it would be fun to make your game use a jump puzzle, a fast paced jump puzzle and if the player falls off, then they get reset and start all over.

I really enjoy the speed. It seems like the level design is purposefully difficult. That’s cool, but it’s hard to jump in the deep end. Maybe we could have gotten a better feel by starting simpler. Also, I would consider adding some kind of polish or other interaction when picking up an item, like a boost or a blast or something. With all the bright colors and the speed, that kind of effect would fit and add some good feel.

It’s a good “minute to learn, lifetime to master” type of challenge with potential (perhaps powerups, some AI, or obstacles or something like that, if you want). The sound effects are awesome, like roller blades with rockets attached to them, and the game does a good job of convincing me that I’m running on rocket roller blades. I enjoy the feel of the game, though a little extra polish to the character and the level would make the world more immersive. Fun game!

I always appreciate a challenge. For this project, I’m really only getting any game feel feedback from the movement of the character its self. The movement feels very swift and precise, which it seems is what you were going for with the whole freerunning theme. Good job on that, the movement is solid.

However, I feel like a few more polish effects like perhaps some particle effects or more/different sound effects would help exemplify the game feel you were going for here. It would be really rewarding to see some camera shake or dust particles go flying around as you freerun from platform to platform.

Overall though, very good job. This seems like it has a decent amount of potential in terms of turning this into an interesting and engaging game.

I like the sound that comes from the character moving really fast, it kind of sounds like he’s moving through the air.
Improving the character’s movements could be something done for the next iteration. I didn’t know I could double jump until the 3rd playthrough.
The environment could be polished a little bit, to fit a theme from one of the games you mentioned in your blog post. The sound effect could be used to fit an air theme, where the player is jumping on clouds. But that is just an idea. Overall this is great, and an original idea too!
