The character looks awesome. Your animation for the skipping combined with the subtle head bob works really well to give the joyful feel. The song choice and texture were also a nice touch. You’re right, the movement was a little frustrating but I think you still nailed the goal of the project.

It just makes me smile from ear to ear! So right off the bat, I think you’ve capture a sense of joyfulness, but let’s unpack why. On the surface, a lot of the real time control elements don’t sync up with the theme: you’re slow moving, you can’t jump very high; I don’t associate these things with joy. (However, as an aside, they do make sense for a Yeti.) Your polish elements, though, totally sell it: the jump and motion animation are awesome, they give a sense of someone who is so joyous they don’t need to go fast, they’re just having a good time. The nonsensical flower particles on the Yeti’s ankles are also great – they really emphasize the spinning motion of the jump. And the whoop the Yeti lets out while jumping really telegraphs how happy he is. In the end I think the contrast between the controls and the images is surprisingly effective, because a creature you don’t think of as being joyful is showing how much fun they can have. It definitely shows how important visual and audio polish is.

The animation of the yeti is very impressive! I really liked how he jumps around. He turns in the air. It really conveys a sense of joyfulness very well. The hopping effect when he walks also gives a joyful feel. He even moves his head like he is listening to music! The texture of floor and the floral particle when the yeti jumps are cute, and it shows the sunny side of the yeti very well. The background music is also joyful. An additional sound when the yeti jumps could emphasize the joyful yeti more, though.

I was entranced by the use of color, the movement, and the particle effects emanating from his feet. I think that the music beat goes well with the stage and the movement of the yeti. I think I was hopping to the beat, so that was nice.

The skipping and jumping are the gold nuggets of your approach. They emphasized a good nature and happy avatar. Well done.

I would try having him walk backwards or skip backwards. He doesn’t have a walk back animation, so it appears a little weird when moving backward. Other than that, wonderful job.
