The meerkat does feel scared because of the fast, jerky movement, and the sharp turns. Would help a lot if the lion was actually real, especially since gamers like to put such things to the test.

The effect could be more amplified by adding more polish effects to the meerkat and the environment.

But I think the light is too dim, perhaps you can add in moonlight to keep the night setting but add more light at the same time.

If you had more time, you should polish up the character model and animation. But overall, your project is fun to play.

The boulders blend right into the environment and adds a bit of realism to the setting. One thing that you can improve on is the character animation. Though the environment effects make it clear that the Meerkat is supposed to be scared, I felt that few simple animations like trembling while idle could really enhance the experience.

To be honest, I was slightly disappointed that there wasn’t anymore incentive than the sound effects though. I’d also suggest increasing the lighting, it felt odd and it was hard to see the environment and the model very well because of it. That being said, I did like the rocks you put in the environment. It definitely gave a feel of something to hide behind.

The low lighting and sound effects stood out as fear effects. I liked the motion of fast movement and low jumping. It created a sensation that I was running from something. Also, dodging between the boulders made it seem like something was lurking around the corner. It would be cool to see an actual predator! However, I know that’s outside the scope of this project. Great job!

I was really scared when I heard the lion. The Meerkat model could use some texturing to strengthen the feel. I didn’t realize the Meerkat was jumping until I came close to the rocks. May be if it was day time the jump would be more clearer. Overall, great work with the environment and creating that ‘scared’ feel.
