Although this isn’t the same for the “mechanic” feel, as the spinning and squishing makes me think more of a lighter feel than a heavy machine one.

The jumping could use a tiny bit of horizontal movement, but the controls do convey the heavy feel for the “machine” and light/nimble feel for the “elf”.

A visual cue denoting a change between the elf and machine might have been nice too, but that’s on the polish side. Ultimately I’d say you game did convey the two different character feels.

The movements clearly distinguish between avatar characteristics. I liked animation for both the avatars. I liked the sound for twirly, but the sound for stretchy is did not help for its feel.

However, I really missed textures. They would have been really helpful in enhancing game feel. I think they would also have helped setting the context of avatar, like where they are and all, that would have given a clearer picture.

Also some background and collision sounds, would have enhanced game feel.

Your demo game has the feeling of controlling two different characters with different physical attributes, but I think it lacked some polish.

It’s very graceful and definitely feels light. Unfortunately the inability to move while jumping makes those long leaps feel out of control.

The heavy character stays in the air a bit too long to feel heavy. Stretchiness also isn’t a property I would associate with heavy or machine-like. Claire in Thomas Was Alone doesn’t seem to deform at all when she jumps.

However, his movement is much too vertical, especially in relation to the spacing of the platforms. Unless you’re moving before you jump, you have no lateral control while in the air, which doesn’t make him feel very responsive and breaks real-time control.

For the heavy character, it would have helped if he was visually distinguished by being wider or even a different color. His movement speed seems about right, though his jump is pretty strong for a character that should be heavy. Double-jumping with smaller individual hops may help. Same issue with the in-air lateral movement as the light character. The jump sound effect and slight stretching / squishing of the torso were good polish effects.
